Research Fellow, Personal Inquiry project
Exploring inquiry learning in science as part of a 3 year EPSRC/ESRC funded project, working alongside the University of Nottingham and collaborating with teachers and students from the local Oakgrove School. We're working with the geography department and have been exploring the use of Asus Eee netbooks, Sciencescope sensors, GPS units, and digital cameras to collect data, and building an Activity Guide using Drupal software to support and scaffold the students' progression through their inquiries. So far we've undertaken an Urban Hat Island study with two cohorts of Year 10 students, and a Microclimates project around the school grounds with younger students.
